Jan 18th:
Mabel update: she is in the NICU and will likely be here for 10 days or so. She is having a hard time breathing on her own and working really hard. Her respiratory rate is about twice of what they hope. She is not eating at all yet because she just has to learn to breathe first. They are not really worried about her as this is pretty normal for a 36 week baby. What will be worrisome is if she doesn't improve. Please say your prayers for her. I am sorry I am not available. No one is allowed to see her but chris and I and he is home sick. So I am here solo. I can't talk on phone in NICU and so when I am not in here I am resting. I will send a text with updates daily. Love you all.

Mabel update: today is a great day. Her numbers are looking so much better and we are trying to ween her off the oxygen. So exciting. This could take time and days but it is progress. She has had two feedings through a tube down her throat. That is very exciting. She and I get to snuggle every couple of hours for an hour and if she shows interest in nursing later she can try. There are still a bunch of possible obstacles but we are taking one day at a time. Xo

Mabel update: she is nursing! It is so exciting and unexpected. I really didn't think she would take this step so soon. So very very thankful. Her chest X-rays are the same as yesterday and her labs indicate that there is an infection/inflammation in the body. For this reason we will do antibiotics for 5 more days. She is also jaundice which is no surprise so she is now in an incubator under lights when we are not holding her. Because of tubes and wires she in confined to her corner of the NICU. Right now we are going to be here no less than 5 more days. That is if everything goes perfectly. She has been a lot more awake and looking around which is great. Xo
